The Oil Rinse (IMPORTANT NOTE: Read More Info)

Honors for this video as of 10:37p.m. January 29, 2010 #24 - Top Favorited (Today) - Howto & Style #58 - Top Rated (Today) - Howto & Style Textured hair is healthiest when it contains the right amount of moisture. Without something to help your hair to retain moisture, the hair can become very dry. Its amazing how the right products can help change the appearance of your hair, but sometimes, this is not enough to achieve the feel you want. If you're suffering from a dry spell, try the oil rinse. Oil Rinse, Don't Sleep on This: www.longhaircareforum.com How to Detangle Curly Hair with an Oil Rinse: www.ehow.com In this vlog I'm using Vegetable Glycerine which is a USP and food grade, all-natural product derived from vegetable oil. Vegetable Glycerine from NOW has a rich, lubricating, oily texture, yet is easily soluble in water. IMPORTANT NOTE: In this Vlog I'm using three different product lines. Although the products used (shampoo, conditioner and leave-in) are from my favorite lines, I find I get better results when I use products from the same line(unfortunately I ran out of something from one or the other and since I'm using organic products which has an expiration I'm using what I have until I'm out then I'll reorder). Once I run out of products I will be using products from start to finish from the same line (I have compiled a list of the shampoo and conditioner/leave-in from each line that I will be using in her and my hair for washing the hair. The only thing from a different line would be the oil. Alaffia: Shampoo: www.alaffia.com Conditioner/Leave-in: www.alaffia.com Oyin Handmade: Shampoo: oyinhandmade.com Conditioner/Leave-in: oyinhandmade.com Qhemet: Cleansing Product: www.qhemetbiologics.com Conditioner/Leave-in: www.qhemetbiologics.com Kinky Curly: Cleansing Product: Come Clean Conditioner/Leave-in: Knot Today kinky-curly.com These are the products that we use. If you have found what line works for you, DO NOT CHANGE PRODUCTS, there will always be something new or something someone else is using. Although I find we get better results with using the same line while washing, you may have found a combination of product lines (shampoo and conditioner from one line and leave-in from another) that works. If what you doing is working continue with that line or combo whether it be professional (ie mizani or paul mitchell, etc), commercial (ie suave, vo5, pantene, etc), FUBU (for us (naturally textured with pattern) by us (naturally textured with pattern) ie jessicurl, devacurl, the ones I've named above, etc.) or Natural/Organic (Nature's Gate, Desert Essence, Kiss My Face, etc). Note: This vlog is strickly about washing the hair. It is not talking about finishing products (although Qhemet Cocoa Tree Detangling Ghee was the finish product used). When it comes to styling the hair a combination of products may be used to achieve the style you're wanting to achieve(whether it be from the same line, or something such as a moisturizing cream from one line and something such as gel from another). I'll talk more on Finishing Products in a future vlog. Another Important Notice: Switching Products can cause a major setback (hair shock) and can take one to three washes to stabilize your hair. Also trying a new product line/regimen can have the same effect. It may take a few washes for your hair to get use to the new line/regimen so if at first you don't succeed try and try again (it may take up to three tries for your hair to get use to your new product/regimen). As far as the Castor Oil Mix, I'm not sure why the castor & tea tree oil became milky in color when shook to mix in the smaller bottle but stayed clear in color in the larger 16 oz bottle. Of course the google queen did her research and found where this happened to someone else as well (the castor oil and tea tree mix became milky in color after shaking). My daughter's scalp was dry so that's why the mix was applied to her scalp and edges only with the cone tip. I would have left that part out for a future vlog (what oils, butter, creams, pomades I use for scalp issues) but she wanted it to stay because her Dad was in the footage (i didn't stop the camera after applying the leave-in which would have been the final step for this Regimen. Another Note: Qhemet Cocoa Tree Detangling Ghee has an oil in it so sealing with an oil wasn't necessary). A vlog on scalp issues will be coming in the Future as well. Peace & Much Love
